"Sukhi" Sukhjinder Singh Nijjar isn't a politician - he's a concerned parent. His experience raising two daughters and a son in Queens opened his eyes to the deep inequities and issues in our city's education system ,which compelled him to run for City Council to fight for our future genrations. Sukhi has been a small business owner and devout community leader in Queens for 30 years. He has a profound understanding of the people's concerns and is ready to be a true representative for the people of City Council District 29.

Vote “NO” to ANY city budget that cuts funding for education
Commit to creating safer streets for all local communities by funding educational programs to tackle hate crimes & violence
Expand rent stabilization laws & protections while cutting redtape for existing units to create more housing opportunities
Ensure full language access in all city agencies and government forms in all languages spoken in District 29
Support QueensLink to increase transit accessibility for central & southeastern Queens

Immigrating from Punjab at the age of 14, Sukhjinder moved to live the American dream. He finished his education in New York and is now an entrepreneur and community activist. He aspires for justice, equality, diversity, and representation. Sukhjinder's roots are the cause of his drive- the Sikh rule to serve humanity. As a Sikh, he finds it part of his life duty to administer the community, even if it requires time and effort. He has participated in many cultural and social events that benefit society and aims to continue. Sukhjinder Singh Nijjar is an inspired and driven soul who strives to push forward the voices of the people who need to be heard.
